Act 'Wanted'

Yesterday, I was on my home on the usual packed train. It wouldn't have been bad if it was just the usual crowdedness.

I got on the train at Cityhall. There was this woman, who looks like a Chinese national to me. Ever since she got on the train, her phone kept ringing. However, she did not pick up any of the calls. What was worse, was the fact that her ringtone was some cheesy mando-pop which was real crappy! i guess it's not unusual that we do not pick up calls from some people and let our phone go on ringing instead of rejecting the call so that the other party would think that we are too busy to pick up those calls, but at least, most people would just switch their phones to silent mode if they anticipate that the caller would actually call again. This woman did not do this. After the 5th time the phone rang, the guy standing next to me was grumbling and mumbling some words which didn't sound so nice.

Fortunately, she got off at some station near Geylang. Thinking back, I really wonder if people sometimes do stuff like this to show people that they are 'wanted' by others, or that they are 'hot'. If not, why create those noise? Don't they feel bad about disturbing other people sharing the same public space as them? Someone please enlighten me...
